Great Weekend in KC!

Mike and I have been looking forward to this weekend for months, and now it has come and gone so quickly! Mike's brother, Adam, returned from his mission a few weeks ago and because his parents moved while he was gone, he wanted to come back to Kansas City and report his mission to his home ward. Word spread quickly about the trip and soon more Christensens were on board. Alisa and her fiance, Ryan, came along and it was so nice to get to know Ryan. We were really impressed with him and think he'll make a great addition to the family. Matt and Camie are in Minneapolis for the summer and decided to make the supposed six hour drive to join us. And of course we couldn't miss the party when we're only three hours away! We had quite the crowd and had a great time.

Our first event of the weekend was a bridal shower for Alisa! The ladies of the Redbridge ward were so cute and thoughtful to throw her a shower and it was so much fun. Here are Alisa and Ryan playing the Nearly Wed Game! They did a great job!I was given the challenging task of making Alisa's bridal bonnet I have to say that I think it turned out quite darling; however, the truth is that the beautiful bride is the one who really makes the bonnet look good!

Our next event was getting some good ol' Kansas City BBQ at Jack Stack! Here are the guys working up the appetite while they set a table for twelve!Here we are after stuffing ourselves! We all laughed because much of our weekend revolved around eating all our favorite foods in KS- including Sheridan's Frozen Custard and espinacha dip from Cactus Grill. The Cockriel family was so good to put all of us up at their house/bed and breakfast! They gave us the basement and were kind enough to set it up so everyone had a bed to sleep on. They served us delicious food, babysat when needed, and made us feel so comfortable in their home. They were so good to us!

Here is grandpa with Andrew and Clayton all dressed for church to hear Uncle Adam and grandma talk. Both Adam and Teresa did an excellent job with their talks!
These three cousins enjoyed bouncing from bed to bed and playing with each other. It was fun to get some cousin time!What's not pictured is us staying up late trying to make the most of our time together. It seems this always happens when the family gets together. We all want to hang out and no one wants to go to sleep (except for Ralph and the kiddos- which poses a slight problem when kids decide to wake up at 5:45 a.m.!!). We had fun talking and laughing and reminiscing about the microwave game, Final Four, and more! Here's the whole crew before we all went our separate ways Sunday evening! I think we're all exhausted in this picture, but we really had a great weekend and it was so fun to see everyone!
