I have always loved the first day of school. There is so much anticipation and excitement about a new grade, seeing friends you haven't seen all summer, and of course your new school clothes! Once I got into college, I loved the first day of classes for the same reasons, but I also got so excited about getting my syllabi and finding out what we were studying that semester (my brother-in-law, Ryan, pointed out that it's a little nerdy, but I don't care!)!
Anyway, in honor of new backpacks, shoes, fresh pencils, excitement, nerves, and everything else that accompanies the first day of school, yesterday Andrew and I made the trek two doors down to wait for the bus with the neighborhood kids! It was so fun to see their energized little faces and parents furiously snapping photos. As the big yellow bus rounded the corner, they all lined up, waved goodbye, and got on the bus! Andrew was fascinated with the bus and wanted to get on. In the end, he settled for lots of waves and "bye!!" to all his big friends.
I couldn't help myself, we went out to the bus stop again this morning!

What toddler boy wouldn't love seeing a bus? My twins go crazy every time we pass one. They'll have to say good-bye to their brothers next Monday when we start our walks to school. I don't think they're going to be very happy.
haha! liz, you are so funny! i love it.
And let me just say, you are such a cute momma to take Andrew out to the bus stop!
Liz you are so funny. I'll bet Andrew loved seeing the bus. By the way, I just haven't checked out blogs for a few days, but I love the prego picture of you in the previous post! You shouldn't be allowed to looked so good and be pregnant with twins and 32 weeks. Not fair! I am sorry to hear about the disease affecting your face, I really hope it goes away soon! You're in our prayers!
I love it, especially since I have taught! I just love the newness of school and the unexpected from a classroom filled with 30 7th graders!
The first day IS so exciting-- (although I'm thankful that my school days are over!)--mostly I love buying school supplies and just like to wander down the isle at the grocery store. We're getting ready for Abby to start 1st grade next Monday!
Liz, you really do crack me up. I remember those feelings too. I can't believe you actually went to the bus stop. I bet Andrew ate it up.
