Cold afternoon

I recently read on my friend Ada's blog about keeping it real with blogging. Often we paint this perfect picture of our perfect lives, but we all know there is more to life than that. So, here's to keeping it real!

Friday, I was going a little crazy because we hadn't left the house in three days because of a winter storm. I was determined to get out! So, I loaded up the kiddos and went to Target (yes, Ann Marie, your post pardom theory about Target is absolutely correct!), then I stopped by a craft show, and picked up a gourmet vegetarian pizza from Papa Murphy's (if you haven't tried it you must!). I was finally headed home and decided to gas up the van for Mike, as he was headed to Omaha with the youth the next morning. As I stood at the gas pump I have to admit that I had this swelling pride in my heart-- I had gotten out!! Not only did I go out, I made four stops and did it with all three kids! My prideful heart didn't last too long because I quickly realized that I had locked my keys and my three children in the car! After standing in 25 degree weather for an hour, listening to crying children I couldn't reach, I finally got in my car and went home. Funny how I was dying to get out of my house, yet when I returned I was so happy to be in my little home!!

Target is definitely my favorite place to escape to when I'm going crazy at home! So glad you had gotten out. But what a sad story about you locking the kiddos in the car! I am so sorry, especially when it was so cold. That must have been so stressful! I locked the twins in the car once when they were babies, and it was so hard to stand outside watching them screaming while we were waiting for AAA. I'm glad everyone's okay now.

I borrowed a man's cell phone and called Mike. Unfortunately, Mike works 40 miles away. He called AAA and they came and unlocked the car. After this experience we decided to give a set of keys to our neighbors.

Oh wow! I can only imagine how you felt with your 3 little ones in the car. I agree about keepin' it real.

Oh Lizzie! I can't believe that happened. Glad to hear it all worked out.

Oh my gosh! Glad everyone is okay now--I bet you were dying! Sometimes going out is overrated...right? I tried yesterday to "get out" to the post office. The line was out the door, so I turned around and went back home. So much for that.
