Yesterday, my parents celebrated 44 years of marriage! I thought of them a lot as I went about my day. Life has it's challenges and my parents are experiencing yet another challenge together as my mom takes on a fight with cancer. In 44 years of marriage, they've had hard times, but they've always had and created good times as well. I love how these two love each other, love life, and love marriage. They are such great examples to our family and others. Don't they look great! This picture was taken just a couple of weeks ago at the Albuquerque, NM temple while there for my cousin's wedding. They look happy, they look good to the core, they don't look like my mom is about to start her sixth round of chemo on Monday!
They come from good stalk, and they have good examples too! Below are my mom's parents, two people I have great admiration for! Grandma and Grandpa Evelyn have been married 71 years!! Can you believe that? Grandpa is a 20 year cancer survivor, he works in his garden all day long, he still floats the river, boogie boards, and goes on the ward rafting trip at 92! They start every day with a hike up the bluffs where grandma is known as the flower lady because she always has a basket of flowers strapped to the front of her walker, and grandma still makes a baby quilt for every great and great great grandchild. A few weeks ago, I answered my phone to hear grandma on the other end of the line. She was just calling to get the name of our baby so she could stitch it on his quilt that is all ready for him! When I told Mike about it, he thought she was calling for Amelia's quilt, but really, she was three months ahead of me! We had a nice visit, it made me so happy! What great people, what a great legacy they have given our family. They make me want to be better, to love Mike, my kids, and life even more! Happy anniversary mom and dad!
