True Nebraskans

Nebraska was never one of those states I aspired to live in. In fact, I had never thought of the state until Mike started interviewing with Toro (and I cried when he first brought me here- very unlike me, but it could have had something to do with the fact that I was eight months pregnant and it was the second move in one year). Although it's not where we pictured ourselves living, we have been pleasently surprised with how much we enjoy living here.

Yesterday I had a moment where I thought to myself, "Wow, we're real Nebraskans!" Last year Mike's coworker asked us if we were interested in buying a quarter of a cow. A quarter of a what?!! After talking to a few people who swore there was no other way to buy beef, we decided to go out on a limb and buy a quarter of a cow! We loved it! We loved it so much, that we just bought another quarter this week. The meat is fresh, lean, and I get to tell them how I want it packaged and how much should be steaks, roasts, hamburger, stew meat, etc. If any of you ever get the chance, you should definitely go for it! Beef, it's what's for dinner!

Beef sounds perfect for pregnant ladies who need to boost their iron. Sounds tasty!

Do you have to have a second freezer for that? That is a sign you are a true Mormon, when you buy the second freezer. Ours is like a small cupboard, but it holds our chicken, cheese, and butter. What else can you ask for?

I would love to be able to buy a quarter of a cow. I grew up with a freezer full of meat, so when I actually had to go and buy it from the store for the first time it was a really shocker. What a nice thing to have!

Well it's good to know that you have grown to like Nebraska, because Matt has about 5 interviews in Des Moines this weekend for internships next summer. I guess if nothing else, we'll be able to buy some good meat.

That would actually be nice....I would probably need some lessons on how to ask for it to be done....but, i can really see how that would be nice to do if you can!
