President Hinckley

I've been writing a blog post in my head for the last few days, and had full intentions of posting it last night; however, with the news of President Hinckley's death my funny post will wait for another day.

This morning I turned on the morning news to see what would be reported about the death of our beloved prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley. I probably shouldn't have been surprise that his passing was only mentioned with the headlines, overshadowed by reports of the red carpet and politics, but it broke my heart.

We have known him as our prophet for 13 years, but he has given his life in service to his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and to the members of their church. He did this with love, hard work, testimony, enthusiasm, wit, humor, tenderness, and always a smile. Just listening to him, I wanted to be a better person. I am so grateful for his life and example. I am saddened he is gone and will miss hearing him speak and feeling his amazing spirit, yet I smile imagining the reunion with the love of his life, Marjorie.

What a cheerful, amazing man! I feel priveleged to have lived in the time when he was the prophet. He and his wife were such great examples.

He sure will be missed, but how sad that it is hardly given a thought and other news overshadows it. Being here in Utah IT WAS the news and then after the 10:00 news there was a one hour special on his life. Gosh I love living in Utah! :)
