We love General Conference!

We love General Conference! It's a chance to change the pace for a weekend and listen to a living prophet and apostles. Saturday we watched conference at home and then I took the boys to my sister, April's, house for a girls' night while our husbands were at the Priesthood session of conference. We had yummy foods and made Halloween decorations. The kids had a blast playing together, as always.

We started Sunday morning by having breakfast with Bil and Catie. It wasn't just our normal oatmeal, it was like New Years breakfast for all you Christensens out there. However, I couldn't bring myself to fry eggs in bacon grease-- it makes me shiver!

After breakfast we snuggled up for a couple of hours of wonderful talks. The worldwide broadcast was uplifting, inspiring, moving, and building. It is, however, a bit of a challenge to get three little boys to listen attentively and allow mom and dad to listen. The boys were actually very good at being reverent for most of the sessions on Sunday. Here are a few pictures of our "reverent" morning listening to General Conference.
I have to give Reid credit for folding his arms during the closing prayer. However, Andrew wasn't quite as respectful since he was the one snapping the picture! Here we all are after the Sunday morning session. Doesn't it look like we had fun? After the afternoon session, we headed to my sister April's house for a Hasler family gathering. We had a wonderful dinner and then a great family home evening. We played a classic Hasler game with the kiddos and I think they loved it. The only sadness was that my mom was so sick she didn't make it to our gathering. While we were all eating, chatting, and laughing she lay in her hotel room feeling like garbage. We hope she's feeling better soon!

We had such a great weekend! It's been a while since we've lived near family and it's such a treat to be able to get together with everyone. We're living it up, knowing we're only here for two years and then we'll probably move to some wonderful random place with a great job, but no guarantee of cousins, aunts and uncles, or grandparents. Such is life!

Looks like you had a great weekend! So nice for you to be nearby family. And I must say it does me good to see blocks all over the room!

Love the picture of Mike getting walked on! Ha! Looks like many moments we've had over here. How fun to have family closeby. Sounds like you're making the most of it. We have really fond memories of our time at BYU for those two years.
