A passion

I used to work for a man who had everything, literally! So, for his birthday I baked him Mother Teresa's famous cinnamon rolls. I laughed hard (and was also very flattered) when he told me I had missed my calling in life and that I should own a bakery! While I have no aspirations of owning my own bakery, I do have a passion for baking! For this reason, I was thrilled when my sister-in-law, Whitney, rallied the Hasler women together to join the Tuesays with Dorie baking blog.

Stepping Out

It's true, we actually did it! We left our wee little ones with trusted friends and snuck away for a night. It was delightful, dreamy, and too short! We ate rich foods, slept in, and soaked in the hot tub until we just couldn't take it any longer. It was the perfect getaway, yet as we drove home the next day, we were so excited to get back to our boys! Funny how that works.

"Aunt Rach"

This post is a week old. I remember laughing so hard with my siblings when growing up. We would get so silly and giddy and bounce up and down on the chocolate brown cushions of our couch in the family room while watching Gilligans Island on our twelve inch TV and it just seemed so right. That's how this weekend was. Ok, maybe even better!


My sister Rachael flew in Thursday night and stayed until late Sunday afternoon. We had a fabulous time together. We went to the temple, did some shopping, got a babysitter and let Mike join us for dinner, did more shopping, made yummy treats, and every night we stayed up too late talking politics, parenting, holidays, the gospel, food, and whatever else we could think of! Of course the boys loved having her too. What could be better than an aunt with none of her own children in tow? Oh to have family visit...we miss you already Aunt Rach!

Can't Help Myself!!

Ann Marie might seriously kill me, but I feel compelled to post these pictures!! When Annie came to visit last May she informed me she had set a goal to race in a triathlon. I was kind of curious how she was going to do it. She's never enjoyed running, doesn't own a bike, and was a diver in high school, not a swimmer!! I'm so impressed with this girl!! She trained all summer and had a great race in New Jersey this weekend! She emailed these pictures for my eyes only, but I just can't help myself!! Doesn't she look so hot in her wetsuit?!! Matt said she was the fourth or fifth lady out of the water! Check out the exhausted man behind Ann Marie as she bounces out of the water!
Matthew is thinking, "I have the coolest mom!" All I can say is that I want to be just like her! I know you don't want to toot your own horn, so I'll do it for you. I love you Ann Marie, please don't be mad at me.
